Basic Sweet Rolls




1/2 cup warm water
2 tablespoons yeast
2 cups scaled milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons salt
2 beaten eggs
6-7 cups flour

Glaze:
2 cups powered sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-4 tablespoons hot water

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Combine scaled milk, sugar, butter and salt with 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Beat in eggs and dissolved yeast, then add additional flour to make a soft dough. Knead well. Let rise until double (30-40 minutes)

Turn half of the dough onto lightly floured surface and roll into a rectangle about 20'' x 12''. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg sugar mixture. Roll up dough. Cut into 1 inch slices using floss. Place on greased pan with space between to they can rise. Allow to rise until double in size. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
